Description of service
The total cost was for two prenatal visits, not including ultrasound. Pap smear was performed, and basic info, including pregnancy test, was given. There were no medications, etc. and no complications.
Review of Service
The long and short of it is that this service was terrible. I actually left crying after the second visit because the doctor, who was young and perhaps new to the "doctor" job, was backing out the door as I was talking to him. He was actually facing my husband, and my back was to him. I thought this was bad beside manner to say the least, as I was the "patient." We were asking questions about things like ultrasounds, and when we could find out the sex of the baby, things of that sort, and he continually dismissed us with comments like "I don't really care about the sex of the baby, we're looking for other things." He was very rude, the staff at the front desk was not efficient nor were they friendly, and I was treated like a number.
Tips
The best thing that came out of this was that I had a homebirth. I was able to have my little boy at home under the care of a midwife, and while this may not be for everyone, the cost of this was equivalent to approximately the cost of 6 prenatal visits. If you must have a hospital birth, or if home birth is not for you, I'd strongly recommend hiring a doula to help you, and even to accompany you to the doctor's office.
