Description of service
So I went to get a vasectomy last year in October. It was something I was thinking about doing for a very long time and I knew that my insurance wouldn't cover it. But it wasn't as expensive as I thought it was. First I met with the doctor who would do the procedure for a consultation. For the total service I paid about $535, including the prescription afterwards. Lots of insurances now cover it so you may want to do research before hand. I was only gone from work one day and had the weekend to recooperate. Afterwards I only needed to wear a jock and take some Tylenol. Non-profit parenthood places may charge about $600 for the service
Review of Service
The service was fairly easy and routine. The first day hurt the most. There are some specials advertised for vasectomies but I wouldn't trust them. I would go to a renowned doctor that was nothing goes wrong. Took only 4 days to get over the surgery and then everything was back to normal. The cost was a lot less than if I had a kid so overall it was worth it. The entire thing included the consultation, examination, operation and follow-up. Planned Parenthood can help if you don't have insurance.
Tips
The best thing to do is to do the research and don't pay more than $600 for the surgery. Search around for the best price with a good doctor.
