Description of service
On a weekday night I was doing a load of laundry and the washing machine began to clunk really loudly like the drum was spinning out of alignment or something. I stopped the cycle and called in the morning to a repair center that was able to get a repairman to my house that same afternoon. The belt or whatever holds the drum in place was broken and needed to be replaced, so the repairman gave me an estimate and then did the work. He was able to drain the standing water and get it fixed in a little more than an hour, and he ended up charging me $126 which was slightly lower than expected and was $45/hour (2 hour minimum) plus $36 for the part.
Review of Service
First, I was impressed that I got someone to make a service call the same day, and then I was really glad that he drained the water without flooding my floor or making a mess. The repairman was a nice guy and knew pretty quickly what the problem was, and he fixed it in a short amount of time. He obviously knew what he was doing and his estimate was accurate, which is a sign of a good professional. The washer worked like new after that so my opinion is that he did a great job and I am satisfied with the service and with the price.
Tips
Any time you are getting an appliance fixed, you have to consider the cost of the repair against the cost of a new appliance. If the cost of my repair had been $200 or more I might have just decided to spend $600 on a new washer. Make sure you think about that before you rush to fix something.
