Description of service
This class was given at a local craft retailer and lasted 3 hours. All supplies were provided, including the use of their sewing machines. You got to pick your fabric from a huge selection of fabrics. They also measured you personally so that your apron fit you and was not generic one size fits all. We followed a given pattern, cut our fabric, picked out our thread, prepared the sewing machine for use, learned about the particular sewing machine we were using, and made the apron from start to finish. There were 10 students and 2 teachers.
Review of Service
I really enjoyed this class and loved the tacky apron I had when done (I picked the most hideous fabric they had just for the fun of it). The teachers were really patient and you could tell they knew what they were doing. They knew the ins and outs of all the machines there and walked around helping people one on one during the whole class. They did not plug anything to sell, which was very surprising to me. In past classes at this store, I had been pressured to buy things and told about store sales. It was refreshing that they did not do this. I would definitely do this again in a different class.
Tips
I have to say that most of the fabrics they offered were old and ones that they wanted rid of in the store anyway. That said, just be prepared for that if you take a class from an actual retail store. They are trying to teach you but also in the business of making money.
