Description of service
This class was to show you how to do basic sewing for repairs and hemming and alterations, as well as how to care for your old model, non-computerized sewing machine (my machine is from the 1960s). The class lasted 3.5 hours and was actually two classes in one, with a 30 minute break for lunch. We were shown first how care and maintain your older machine, as well as some tricks for making them work better for you. The second class is where we were shown some basic sewing techniques for making and altering simple stuff.
Review of Service
This was a long class, especially since it was really two classes in one, but I learned so much. I learned why my needles keep breaking and why my bobbin keeps spazing on me. I got my old machine oiled for free too! The class that showed me how to sew better was also great. The teacher for each class was different but both were very knowledgeable and really nice and fun. I would suggest the first class for anyone dealing with a very old machine. The 2nd class is great for anyone too. You learn everything from sewing on a button to hemming some jeans.
Tips
I would recommend taking these two classes separately due to the length of time it took. Other than that, I really do not have any tips. I definitely liked this class, held in the back of a locally owned store, much better than the other sewing class I took. It was more geared toward me than toward selling.
