Description of service
I took the sewing machine class from this place, so I thought taking the hand sewing class would be fun. The class fee included no supplies. You were given a supply list a week before via email. The teacher focused on simple hand sewing techniques including hemming, button replacement, patch placement, and some simple alterations like pleats and pegs. The class lasted 2 hours.
Review of Service
This was a fun class. Some of the stuff was a little too beginner for me (i.e. button replacement); however most of it I had never done. I had always wanted to know how to hem jeans and pants so that they look like you bought them that way as my hemming always looked goofy. I learned in this class! I also thought it was cool that I learned how to sew on patches, as I have all sorts of patches that I have collected over the years and never got around to putting them on anything. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn some sewing basics for hand sewing. We did not even discuss sewing machine work.
Tips
If you have any sort of hand/finger/wrist pain issues, you will not want to take this class. Its very labor intensive because its all hand sewing. Other than that, just have fun. Its a really great class for beginners. I would not recommend it for anyone else though, as the teacher really focused on easy things.
