Description of service
I signed up for this class at a nationally known crafts supply store. It was 2.5 hours long and the $50.00 was for myself and my wife ($25.00 a person). All supplies were provided and we were trained on several different models of machines that they had on display in the store. There was one teacher and one assistant. They would show you and describe what we were going to do and then they walked around the small classroom and stopped to comment or help as needed for each student. The class had 10 students. At the end of the class, you did not take anything home. It was just a basic class aimed at showing you how to read patterns and do basic work on a sewing machine.
Review of Service
We were both disappointed with this class. We really walked away feeling that we had been to a 2.5 hour sales seminar on the sewing machines the store sold. We also did not know that the classroom was actually in the middle of the sewing machine section of the store and was out in the middle where everyone shopping could stand and watch. That was a bit embarrassing and distracting. Once, a kid ran through the classroom with its mother chasing it through while screaming at the kid. It was not worth the $50.00 we spent.
Tips
I hate to say it, but I would not recommend taking a class from a big chain store like this. It was obvious to both of us that it was scam to get you to buy their sewing machines and other products that they were pushing us to "learn" about. I would look for a community based class or a class offered by an individually owned store may be better.
