Description of service
I found this class at the college that I was attending. The class covered all materials, including specialty threads, flosses, needles, beads, material, and frames. The class was a tutorial on how to use computer programs to convert photos and paintings to cross-stitch patterns and techniques to make cross-stitching look smooth like other mediums of artistic expression. The class was separated into two sections: the first was teaching us how to use the computer program to modify photos, paintings, and drawings to become like stencils and printing them out onto the fabric, the second section taught different stitching techniques (how to create texture and movement, beading techniques, different types of stitches, and how to begin and end sections to efficiently construct the piece) and enabled us to design, create, and finish projects.
Review of Service
The class was incredibly informative and gave me a fresh look on how to manipulate all mediums of art to create the end-product I have in mind and helped teach me how to use technology to aid in the transition from 2D to 3D. If you have a basic knowledge of sewing and like hand-stitching and beading, this, or a similar class, would definitely be the class for you.
Tips
When looking for sewing classes, make certain to look around the area to find the exact niche you want to develop or to ensure that you have a class that will effectively teach you the basics. The $75 price tag seems a little high, but considering that the class includes all materials necessary, it is very fair. Make certain to find classes that include all materials for a reasonable price, or, if you'd rather purchase the materials on your own: look for a class that is priced only for the teaching itself.
