the Price of an Orthodontist

My daughter needed braces to relieve the crowding in her mouth. Her teeth were beginning to become crooked. The objective was to align the teeth back into order and establish better contact between the upper and lower molars. The braces were also used to correct a slight overbite problem from sucking her thumb as a young child. Prior to the braces going on, 4 teeth had to be extracted by her dentist. This was an additional cost of approximately $400, for removal of upper and lower second bicuspids.

We received excellent care and service for our daughter. The treatment was estimated to take 24 months. If all goes as planned, she will get her braces off after completing 25 months of treatment. This is a very satisfactory time-frame from my perspective. The orthodontist has been entirely available to make adjustments when needed and to take care of broken wires as they happen. We had to contact him during non-business hours one time and he took care of the problem over the phone - talking us through a stop gap type measure to take care of the situation until the office opened the next day. However he was willing to meet us during non-office hours if this did not take care of the problem. He was prompt in calling back after the message was left with the answering service. It has been very easy to get appointments that fit our schedule and the staff has always been accommodating. They require 24 hours notice for cancellations, and we were always able to reschedule during the appropriate time.

Make sure you find a flexible orthodontist office. These appointments come around often and you really need a convenient location and flexible hours. Our orthodontist was within walking distance of the middle school which was very handy for us. It is also important for your child to be comfortable in the office environment. I was thankful for the friendly and interested staff at our location. The receptionist as well as the assistants remembered my daughter and asked about her activities nearly every time we were there. It was a comfortable place to be, and made the waiting for an appointment easier.
