Description of service
Bring a sewer tank truck to our house and empty out the septic tank. This service cost us $150. We dug the hole ourselves, but if we had them dig the hole, it would have cost another $75.
Review of Service
Cost of emptying our septic tank was a very good deal. When calling around to get estimates, most businesses would not let you dig the hole, but would do it themselves and charge you for it. We needed to save money, so we dug the hole ourselves. It was hard work, but it saved us $75. The gentleman that emptied our sewer tank was very friendly and had completed the service in less than an hour. He had a hose long enough to reach around the yard where the tank was. This way, he did not have to drive up in the yard.
Tips
If you are physically able to dig the hole yourself, then save the money and dig. One very important note is to make sure you know where the tank is exactly. Digging around and looking for a tank can be very frustrating and a lot of extra digging. If you do not know where the tank is exactly, then pay the extra for them to find it. Sometimes they will look it up on the house deed, but if the house is old, this is not always reliable.
