Description of service
Service included removal of solid sludge material from the bottom of the tank and inspection of the tank and drain field area. Actual pumping took about an hour to complete and the inspection about a half hour.
Review of Service
Service truck arrived exactly on time and the serviceman was very knowledgeable about the work. Serviceman advised that the solids that build in the bottom part of the tank should be removed every two years to prevent clogging the drain fields. After the tank was cleaned it was inspected and deemed to be in good condition. He noted that the plastic "clean-out" pipe lid was a bit brittle and should be replaced by our plumber. The serviceman also checked the fields for wet areas which would indicate a clogged field and found no problems. Very pleased with this service as a consumer could easily be misled into costly repairs or replacements by less than honest repairman.
Tips
Be sure to ask your neighbors who is the best in your area for this job. Our neighbor advised us before we had our tank pumped that the gentleman who did our work was the best around and we agree after using this service. It is also a good idea to have the solids removed every couple years to avoid clogs and failure of the drain fiels area.
There are many less than honest people in the septic business, some of them related to or associated with plumbers who tell consumers that they must replace an entire system, when repairs or pumping is all that is needed. Best bet is to ask around the neigborhood, and get a second opinion if you are leary of the first sevice companys advice.
