the Cost of Septic Tank Cleaning

We had a local septic company locate and uncover our septic tank lid. This was for an additional charge, but we felt it was worth it not to have to do it ourselves. They pumped out the tank and then recovered it. Our bill was broken down into three parts. First, the lid locating and uncovering. That was twenty five dollars. Second, the pumping out itself was seventy five dollars. The remainder of the bill was for a waste removal fee. It seems in this area, the septic companies charge a waste removal fee because they are now forced to dump the waste in a new processing facility. (In the past, they were allowed to dump the waste as fertilizer). All the contractors I spoke to mentioned this new fee.

The service was fine and we would use this vendor again. The contractor located and uncovered the lid without too much trouble. The tank pump out took several minutes, but was completed in an acceptable time frame. He also recovered the lid with dirt, which we were not expecting.

Septic tank cleaning services seemed to all be priced about the same in my area. I called around to 4 vendors and they were all within $10 of each other.
