the Cost of Septic Tank Cleaning

We got our septic tank uncovered, pumped, enzymed, and recovered. This includes digging to uncover the tank, pumping out the tank, the addition of an enzyme to the tank to liquefy everything in it for the next few months, and replacing the soil back on top of the tank.

The service was fine, and the company we used was kind enough to keep their pumper truck on the street, rather than the lawn. Pumping your septic tank often requires uncovering it, which definitely does take a toll on your yard. The company we used provides grass seed so that their clients can re-seed their yard where they had to dig up the soil.

Enzymes are optional, and we weren't going to get it, but the company explained why we should... it prevents you from having to have your tank pumped for up to 5 extra years. It was an additional 30 dollars, and if it saves us 300 dollars, I'm a fan.

The price of tank cleaning varies pretty wildly. Shop around, and check to see if their price includes uncovering the tank. Sometimes, that's extra, and if it's necessary for your tank, you need to know that up front.
