Description of service
Complete inspection of engine to diagnose the problem and eventual replacement of transmission. Transmission was shot but warning light was not coming on, so the diagnostic test would not diagnose a problem. They had to completely take apart the transmission. Initial cost to diagnose problem was applied to cost of repairs.
Review of Service
Once the initial cause of the problem was identified replacement of the transmission only took a few days. I didn't need the car back right away so they took their time. They road tested the car and double checked everything was in order under the hood before they released it to me. For the quality service I received, I feel it was worth the price. At the time, other estimates I got were around the same price or much more. I have not had any issues with the transmission since the repair. I thought I was experiencing problems after I picked up it; I took it back to the shop and they inspected it for free.
Tips
When replacing such a large component to the car, get multiple quotes. If you found a cheaper price somewhere else but prefer to go to a specific mechanic, tell them you got a cheaper price and see if they will match it. I have had success with this in the past.
