I had the transmission in my car replaced with a rebuilt one. The fee of $1000 included all parts an labor. The cost of labor was six hundred dollars. The cost of the parts was $400.

I had a bad experience in the past with a mechnic keeping my car for over a month. I was worried that this would happen again. To my delight it didn't. I got my car back in a week. I haven't had any problems with the transmission since this repair and I will use this shop in the future if more repairs are needed.

My best word of advice is to ask everyone you know about mechanical work they have had done. The prior bad experience was due to my ignorance. I thought the shop I took my car to must be good becuse of the number of cars in their lot. Not so. They just accept more work than they can handle and keep your car forever. My coworker referred me to the mechanic that I used. I had to travel a little to bring the car there, but it was well worth it. Other quotes I recieved ranged between twelve hundred and twenty four hundred dollars for the same service. I also got a three year warranty on the transmission. Others places offer ninety day warranties. Do yourself a favor and ask around before choosing a mechanic.
