Description of service

Four one-on-one lessons a month, for one hour for a ten year old on the acoustic guitar. These lessons were in a studio in a music store this lasted for two months until my son quit.

Review of Service

The teacher was younger guy and initial meshed well with my son because of his authenticity; the teacher seemed like a rock and roll kind of guy. My son was excited about learning the guitar from this guy. I was making my son learn the acoustic guitar first in order to transition to the electric guitar. I am an advanced musician but I don't know how to play guitar well enough to teach my son. My son was willing to tough it out on the acoustic as part of our agreement to getting to the electric. This teacher kept trying to convince me to just go ahead and let my son get an electric guitar. I don't know if he was just desperate to make a sale or what but every week I was getting hit with a sales pitch, which I didn't like. I paid attention to the lessons he was giving my son and I felt like he was just teaching him riffs and not actual phrases or chords. My son told me that teacher played about as much as he did during the hour. We ended up switching schools after two months.

Tips

I think that you should give your teacher some time to get comfortable teaching you as you get used to his/her style but if you aren't learning at the pace you feel you should be going then dump him and don't waste any more time or money.
