the Cost of Pest Control Services

One day a gentleman knocked on the front door from a local Pest Control company. He asked if we had pest control services in place, and if not he could spray the whole house, place a treatment outside the perimeter of the house for $35.00.

I did not actually have the $35.00, so I said after checking my purse,"I've got $25.00". He said that that was fine, though to start up for the next month, they would bill me $35.00 a month, each month they came out thereafter.

He sprayed each room of the home, and under sinks. Put the granular pesticide around the outside of the house and even put out moth-balls as where we live, snakes could be a problem outside and he spaced the moth-balls along the wall of the entire home.

I feel the quality of service was great, and the techncian was professional and personable, though I honestly don't feel home owners need to be 'locked' into a years service plan every single month, though they try to sell it. You can still cancel the service for that month in particular, and not be billed.

The pesticides they use today though I feel will always be stronger then a few over the counter brands from your local plant nursery, grocery store or other home improvement stores, I personally feel that you can get by with every other month, making it 6-8 months total they come out, unless you notice you have more of a pest problem that needs controlling!

It is a good idea to have your home inspected for potential trouble, as with termites, and damage you may not see caused by them. Unfortunately, termites cause millions of dollars in damages a year for homeowners and it's best to have your home inspected whether it is made of brick construction, stucco or not.

There are many reputable Pest Control companies in your local phone book. And you do not always have to be home when they visit, if you set up a key account, where you give them access to your home each month, or however you have it set up. They get a key to your home and the technician notifies you before he is to spray your home, and they come out to your home on the date/time specified. Make sure their employees are bonded, in case of theft.

And it is your right to be there regardless, but it works out great if you travel alot and are away, and you don't want to miss your monthly service. A good company should have a service rep. give you a courtesy call and remind you of when they will be out a few days in advance.

Just make sure you phone them as well, if you are not on their key account and let them know you will not be home if you have an appointment date/time scheduled and you will not be home, in advance as you would a doctor's office and re-schedule.
