We had to call a pest control service due to a raccoon living in the rafters of our floor where she decided to have babies. What the company does is sets up a live trap to catch the mom, so that we can capture the babies and remove them from the house. The cost to have this done, is $95 for them to show up, evaluate and set the trap. Once the raccoon is caught, it's an additional $40, plus $40 for every baby removed for him to take them off the premises,.
Review of Service
The service looking back now was good. He was able to find the hole to where she was getting access to our house, which was amazing since it was the siding of the house that she was lifting up and going in. To just look at the house you would have never known, but he was able to see a slight bend. Quite impressive. What I learned through this process is that it requires lots of patience. It took one week to catch the mom, so during that week, I felt he could have done more, such as increase or change the bait to attract her. To find out later, she probably wasn't leaving the nest the first couple days after the birth, so it wouldn't have mattered on what kind of bait we used.
Tips
If you have the unfortunate experience to have a raccoon or some other critter invade you home, checking around for a pest control is a good idea, especially if you are not 100% sure of his access door into your home. That way, you have someone who knows what they are doing to retrieve the animal, which is a good thing.
