Description of service
Recently one of my school's employees had to go on vacation for a week. He used to work on technical problems are stuff like that. Not really "major" stuff, just basically plugging in unplugged keyboards/mice, imaging computers, doing mindless tasks such as putting in new computers in labs (same procedure over and over). We did not really need him for many hours.
Review of Service
The employee actually turned out pretty good. We were paying him around $10 an hour. And he worked for around 5 hours each day, for a week. We gave him a small bonus for doing a good job. But then our regular employee was back from vacation. I enjoyed having the temp though. He was well mannered, did the job, didn't complain much, provided a nice atmosphere.
Tips
Make sure that you get references when getting a temporary worker. You don't want some 15-year old with no experience screwing around with your work machines. Make sure that the worker has worked somewhere before. Ask him to show a few things that he knows (such as reinstalling Windows, etc). Also, if you are only hiring for 1 week, you don't have to worry. Generally, people's first week is the best!!!
