Description of service
We hired experienced commercial Title closers to help us with our busy season of closings. We paid them $45 per closing they did.
Review of Service
I think this worked out great for both us and the employees we hired. It was getting close to the end of the year and we had a lot of end of the year closings. We also had a lot of employees requesting time off.
We decided to hire temporary contract closers. We paid them $45 per closing. Some closings only take 45 minutes and some take up to 4 hours. I think over the course of the few weeks we had them work for us, it all worked out to a reasonable hourly wage.
One thing that was unfortunate was that while the closers we hired had vast experience in title insurance they were not all familiar with our particular company's guidelines. We were very busy and didn't really have anyone available to answer questions. This led to quite a bit of work afterwards for our Admins to clean up some of the billing issues that weren't done correctly. Still, overall, I think we came out ahead of paying our regular employees over time and having to turn down time off requests.
Tips
Even if it takes away from your bottom line at the time, always be sure to answer questions for temps. It might be a little aggravating at the time, but it can prevent future work in cleaning up mistakes they didn't even know they were making.
