Description of service
We hire temporary delivery drivers from around the 2nd week in December until around the 2nd week in February. We pay them an hourly wage plus mileage allowance per 8 hour shift which comes out to about $75.00.
Review of Service
Hiring some basically on-call temporary drivers during the Holidays / Super Bowl really works out well for us. Not only do our orders increase during this time but we also have a lot of employee requests for time off during these days. Instead of battling with our employees and making them work days they don't want to, we just bring in a few college kids who are trying to make a few extra bucks on their Winter break.
We typically here them in the first or second week in December and keep them on until the week after the Super Bowl. We typically hire around 10 temps so we can give them each about 1 or 2 shifts week. This prevents us from having to work the same person on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and the same with New Year's.
Tips
Doing this doesn't cost us any more than our normal employees and definitely builds loyalty amongst our regular employees as we can give them time to spend with their family.
