Description of service
WE own a home with a heat pump used for both cooling and heating. The unit had to be replaced and the total cost for both parts and labor was $4,200.
Review of Service
Our home is a single floor house and has the heat pump in an area within the garage with access thru a separate door. It is a tight fit but there is room to work on and around the unit. I called for prices and service availability in the Arlington area and had two different services come to look at the job. They both gave similar estimates that differed by about $400. I felt more confident with the one we selected.
Two men came on the scheduled day, removed the old unit and installed the new one along with a new supporting base. They worked efficiently and it was obvious they knew their jobs.
We had no complaints about their service and the unit has operated without a problem.
Based on the amount of labor and the size of the heat pump in terms of capacity,it was a fair price.
Tips
Know the size of your current unit if it to be replaced. Look for the most efficient unit you can afford. Speak directly with the people who will be doing the work, not just an order taker on the phone. Before any agreement, get in writing, the costs and size of the new unit, if you are having it replaced. Get a definite service date for the work to be completed.
