Description of service
During a particularly hot stretch of the summer, our air conditioner started blowing hot air for an hour or so before we noticed, and then stopped working altogether. We tried a few simple things to try to get it working, but we were unsuccessful and called for an air conditioned repair service to send someone out to fix it. Fortunately, he was able to come out within about four hours and get it working. The cost of $280 included $150 for the service call and $130 for the parts and labor to replace whatever was replaced.
Review of Service
Because it was so hot outside, we were really glad that the repairman was able to get to our house the same afternoon and get the air conditioner working again. He was a nice guy and seemed to be able to diagnose the problem within just a few minutes of looking at the unit. He completed the repair in a reasonable amount of time and the cost for the service call and the work was actually less than I expected, so I was satisfied with the charges and the successful result.
Tips
There aren't many ways to be prepared for the air conditioner going out, but you should have the name of a repairman just in case you need it like we did. It also helps to have the owner's manual available so that you can check some basic things before you do call for repairs.
