Description of service

Remove existing carpeting, sand existing wooden floor on three floors of house to remove scratches and dings, apply two coats of clear polyurethane in order to provide protection of floor in the future. Removal and re-installation of existing floor molding and radiator covers.

Review of Service

The service performed was done very professionally. The crew arrived on time, and had all of the carpet removed and bundled for disposal in a matter of an hour or so. They were able to resand and refinish the floor very quickly after that and apply the first coat of poly the same day. They arrived the next morning to put on the second coat of poly. The third day they re-installed all existing floor molding. It was a very quick and painless process. Most of the speed, however, probably came from the fact that we had not yet moved into the house so there was no furniture in it yet.

Tips

If you can have this service done before you move in, do so. It makes life so much simpler. If you plan on painting as well, paint first, no matter what the floor guy may tell you. We had paint drops on a few places of the new floors and it was difficult to remove. If possible, try to be away for a few days when they are doing it, so that you needing to be in the house does not interfere with them doing their job.
