Description of service
In an unforunate event, a tree stump fell out of the bed of the truck in front of me on the highway. I did not have enough time to stop and thus the stump rammed into the front of my car smashing in the grill, and Saturn logo. I suppose it could have been much worse, however the damage was pretty severe. It was estimated at about $500.00 (which was my deductable) at the time. I did a little research and after some calling around, found a company that would do the work parts plus laboe for a gand total including taxes, of $358.43!!
Review of Service
The accident itself was jarring enough, but to find out that I was solely responsible for the damages at a $500.00 deductable rate, that was mind blowing. It truly does pay to do a little shopping around when it comes to auto body work. I found a place not to far from where I live that had a great reputation for the work they do, and to myastonishment, were offering an extremely appealing rate. The auto body shop was happy to do business with me, and when I told them that there would be no insurance claim, that it would be directly out of pocket, they knocked a few extra bucks off the top for not having to file the paperwork and wait to be paid! They were courteous and friendly, their time quote was accurate and I would most definitely reccomned them to anyone in need of body work! They were fantatstic!!!
Tips
If you find yourself with a high deductable, do some calling around before dealing with the insurance company. When you make these calls, tell them that it will be paid directly out of pocket, not by an insurance claim, this may help you get a cheaper quote. Also, on the upside, if you chose not to go through your insurance, your premium will not be in danger of going up, so you end up saving money on both ends!
