Description of service
$180 is the cost of group swimming lessons at a friends backyard swimming pool. I have taken my kids for about four years now and we all enjoy it. I sit in the backyard and watch with all the other parents while the kids learn to swim. $180 is for five days of lessons. They are split up over a two week period so the kids don't get too tired. This equals about $36 per hour long lesson. A little high compared to community pools, but we trust the instructor as he has done this as a side job since he retired 20 years ago.
Review of Service
The nice part is that I get to bring a lawn chair and watch my child swim. My son says that it's just like playing at the pool because the instructor makes swimming lessons fun. I remember hating swimming lessons because the pool was cold and you were always forced to do things you didn't want to do. My son said his favorite part is diving for clams. So far he has learned all the basic strokes in previous classes, but this year he learned the back stroke and says it is his favorite stroke because you get to float.
Tips
It's important that you child can swim, but don't force them to go each year if they don't enjoy it. As long as they have two years of lessons they should be in good shape and confident enough swimmers.
