Description of service
The price covered three days, one day per weekend, of intensive instruction including an hour total class time and three hours total pool time per day on freestyle swim technique.
Individual coaching is also available and though it's outdoors, the pool is open year round for swimming (hurray for Arizona "winter") whenever a class doesn't have the pool reserved
Review of Service
The first day (first weekend) we spent relearning fundamentals through basic drills. Floating and gliding and how to balance in the water on our sides and stomachs. It's not as easy as it sounds.
Second day we learned swim drills for the new technique and how to apply them. I dropped four strokes from each lap length during the course of the day. One student dropped 12.
Third day we spent time learning drills to figure out where our technique was still weak and how to apply fixes.
The instructors were tiring to listen to when we weren't in the pool, but seemed experienced teachers. Maybe I just find it easier and more pleasant to learn while doing.
Worth the money? I don't know. It is pricey for swimming lessons.
Tips
Swimming's more than just getting in the water and flailing about. Water is so much more viscous than air that streamlining is incredibly important to performance. Moving your arms in weird ways or kicking in the wrong place can cost momentum and energy making you slower and wearing you out faster.
