Description of service
I moved to a new area and needed to start cable tv service. Called local company Cox communications. The basic service was a flat rate of $24.00 per month. I also added Cinemax movie channel for an additional $5.00 per month.
Review of Service
I set up an appoitment for installation of the basic cable service. My technician arrived within the set time limit and the installation and setup was a non event. Cox communications basic service includes the most watched channels plus all of the local channels. I was able to view the basic channels. CNN, TNT, ESPN plus the other large cable channels. I received 35 cable channels and my 5 local channels. The Cinemax movie package included 3 movie channels. Not a large lineup but enough to be well informed as to sports, news and entertainment. The service was usually up with little down time when I was a subscriber. Occasionally during a bad storm the service did experience some down time but it was relatively short lived and the service was restored in a timely manner. At no time did I need a technician to come out to the house except for the initial setup of the equipment. I later upgraded to the digital service when i became aware of the availability.
Tips
Most cable companies have a territory so chosing amongst service providers is difficuly. Most people have horror stories and preferences about cable providers. Check satillite providers and telephone companies for competing offers.
