the Price of Basic Cable with Premium Channels

The service is basic cable with most available premium channels. We pay $65 per month. Of this, $30 represents the basic cable charge, and $35 the fee for our premium channels. The typical fee is $7 per premium channel. However, our cable company has a promotion where if you purchase 5 premium channels ($35/month cost) you get all of the rest of them free. So, we took that deal and it comes out to the $65 per month. Our local cable company also provides us with out cable internet (this making the bill more than $65 per month) but I subtracted that out of the price for the purpose of this evaluation since this is just for the basic cable with premium channels.

For the most part, we are happy with the service. Every once in a while, there are problems. We have this service for our apartment, and it is a good "getaway" to be able to have access to good entertainment and good tv options. We have tried satelitte off and on in our "primary residence" but have had so many problems with that from storms. Overall, we are happier with cable (even with paying for premium channels as opposed to getting them free w/ satellite)

My tip is to spring for the premium channels. It really isn't all that much more money. Just look for promotions! It helps with the savings a lot!
