Description of service
The person who cleans our gutters accidentally knocked some wires down that were needed for the cable TV. The cost to have our cable provider repair the lines was $287.
Review of Service
We paid a local neighborhood boy to clean the gutters. We were told he had experience but while he was up there he ended up dropping his tools off the roof. They hit a tree and snagged on some cable lines. These lines were not anchored properly and were ripped down.
We called the cable company and they told us that they could come out and fix it but that it would take 5 days before they could get anyone out. When the guy finally showed up it took him about two hours. He was very late and he was not a very courteous or friendly man. He wasn't rude, but I definitely got the feeling he was annoyed to have to fix our wires.
When it was all said and done we were billed $287. I realize it was not the fault of the cable company that these wires were damaged but it did not take a lot of material to fix this and only two hours. I felt we were really overcharged and was annoyed that they didn't tell us how much it would be until we got our bill in the mail.
Tips
Ask the company how much they think the repairs might be before they come out. I have never tried it, but you might be able to get someone else to make these type of repairs at a lower cost.
