the Cost of Cable TV Repair Services

A repairman came to our home to replace a cable wire for our cable television. We were charged $50 per hour and $19 for the service call. The repairman was there less than an hour but there was an hour minimum for a total of $69.00.

My puppy chewed the cable going from he wall to the back of the TV. It looked like pretty standard cable but when my husband and I tried to repair it ourselves it was bolted to the wall in such a way that it required special equipment to remove. We called the cable company and were quoted a minimum of $69 for the serviceman to come out and repair the line. We were a little peeved about this as we felt they purposely made it impossible for us to fix something like this ourselves. The service man was at our home for no more than 20 minutes but of course we were charged for the full hour. The service man was polite enough but nothing special. I also had to take two hours off of work to be at home when he came out and we had to wait 2 days for an appointment. We were not reimbursed for the days of no service. All in all we felt it was a scam.

When the cable people install your equipment find out if they can not bolt things down so you can try to attempt easy repairs like these on your own.
