Description of service
Treatment and referrals for different types of cancers, including skin cancer and other types of cancer. Diagnostics as well as plans of treatment and consultations for treatment of different types of cancer. I was diagnosed with a skin melanoma, and needed to have a minor surgery to remove the affected melanoma, and a short course of radiation in order to ablate the cancer.
Review of Service
The oncology department was wonderful. A lot of different oncology practices have become so jaded by the disease that they have lost some compassion. Mine was teriffic. The oncologists were very goal-oriented, and were wonderful at keeping me informed of all tests, results, and what to expect from treatment. They also were wonderful at referring me to another specialist to deal with the psychological issues which are often attached to being diagnosed with a severe illness. Of course I would much rather NOT be diagnosed with cancer in the future, but if I were, I will certainly return to the oncology specialists I had chosen for the treatment of my melanoma.
Tips
First, it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion, but time is of the essence with a cancer diagnosis. The quicker you act, the better your chances of beating it. If you are uncomfortable with your oncologist, don't hesitate to find a new one.
