Description of service
This is the price charged to our insurance company for an office visit and basic blood testing with an oncologist. The visit lasted about one hour. The visit included lab work and a consultation with the doctor. In our case, my husband's doctor had already removed a mole that he felt was malignant. After sending the mole to a lab, we were told that it was malignant. His doctor felt he had removed all of the malignant areas and the cancer was caught so early that it had not had a chance to spread. Still, he wanted us to meet with an oncologist just to be sure.

The oncologist was very helpful and understanding. She was also able to reaffirm that my husband's doctor had removed the malignancy and the cancer was in a very early stage. My husband is required to meet with the oncologist every six months for a while just to make sure he has remained cancer free.
Tips
Your doctor will be able to recommend the best oncologist to assist you in your fight against cancer. Oncologists will be the heart of your team, so make sure you trust and feel comfortable with your oncologist because they will play such a critical role in your care.
