Description of service
This handyman's rate was $20.00 a hour and he worked for us for 1 full eight hour day helping us to sand down our hard wood floors for refinishing. He brought the floor sander, as well as a hand held sander for corners and close to the walls. He did all of the sanding and we helped him by moving furniture and covering doorways with plastic sheeting that he supplied. He sanded our living room, hallway, and three bedrooms. He then used a shop vac to suck up all the loose sawdust from the sanding. This took the full 8 hours.
Review of Service
I would recommend this to ANYONE! He was very friendly and you could totally tell he knew what he was doing. I was a little concerned when I saw the sanders he brought as they looked really old, but they worked great and we were able to seal our floors the next day on our own. We were really happy with the outcome of our floors. We had feared that they were not worth saving and that after he sanded we would have to use floor paint, but he was able to get up all the band stains and now we have gorgeous floors.
Tips
Know that floor sanding is really messy. Its hard work to work those sanding machines too. That is why we hired it done via a handyman we had used in the past for other things. I would definitely suggest having it done this way if you can. We looked into renting the sander ourselves and doing it ourselves and it was going to cost almost the same amount to rent the sander and buy the supplies that go with the sander. It was much easier to have someone who already owns a sander come in and do it for us. Be prepared for lots of dust and noise! But it is SO worth it!
