Description of service
This haircut included a shampoo and conditioning, which was optional (you could also get your head sprayed wet if you preferred) and free, as well as a regular haircut. Blowdrying afterward was also offered free of charge. I chose styling product and towel dry instead.
Payment was $20 for the cut (taxes included) + $4 for a tip to the stylist.
Review of Service
I received excellent service. The stylist worked with me to choose a cut I liked and responded to my feedback. The shampoo was good also, and the stylist showed me how to style my hair after the cut was done. That said, I have gone to the same place and gotten a less good stylist before and a haircut I was not satisfied with. It is trial and error, which is the price of getting a low-end haircut. However, I have never wound up with a BAD haircut -- just a haircut not as good as my current one.
Tips
You should look for a stylist who seems really interested in getting feedback on exactly how you want your hair. A good stylist, even if inexpensive, should ask questions about length, cut, layering, and so on, and check in with you during the process. Once you find a good inexpensive stylist, be sure to ask for her card so you can request her when you go back. After some trial and error, you will find an inexpensive stylist who is a good match for your hair.
