the Cost of Basic Hair Cuts

This was a hair cut without a shampoo or any special styling. I was seated almost immediately with not appointment, and I ended up leaving a 3 dollar tip. The cost above includes this tip and tax

The stylist was very nice, and she asked me a lot of questions about what I wanted before she started. She respected my requests, and I never felt like she thought she was better than me (this is an experience that I have had in the past.) The end result was one of the best haircuts I've ever had which was a surprise considering the price. I did not ask for anything out of the ordinary, but I've had plenty of bad haircuts that seemed like they should be really simple. This may sound strange, but this was also the first haircut where I wasn't itchy afterwards. Once the haircut was under way, the stylist was not very talkative, but I don't mind this (though some people do.)

Referrals are like gold when it comes to hair cuts. There are few things worse than a bad haircut, and when you blindly walk into an unknown salon it really is a gamble. Also, if there are a lot of people coming in and out, you may be able to get a feel for their moods when they leave. If there are a lot of seemingly unhappy people, definitely reconsider.
