Description of service
I used to overpay for a shampoo, cut and blowdry. Luckily, I found a stylist where $20 bucks buys an expert cut and blow dry. I was past due for my own hair cut when I took my son for a cut at a local discount chain. The staff was different than what I expected. Instead of a bunch of young girls straight out of beauty school, this crew seemed experienced and sophisticated. I took a chance and had my hair cut. I was sprayed down with water and walked out wet. Later when I blew it out at home it was one of the best haircuts I ever had. My stylist has since moved on to two other local private salons. She has only increased her price by a few dollars since when I met her at the discount chain years ago. I'd follow her whereever she goes.
Review of Service
You really build up a relationship with your stylist after a few years. She can read my mood and knows I like it long in the summer and short in the winter. She cuts my hair accordingly. Meeting with her is like seeing an old friend. Also by skipping the wash and sometimes the blow dry, it allows her more time to spend on the cut. This trip included a cut and dry. I was in and out within 30 minutes.
Tips
If your hair was washed in the morning you really don't need a shampoo. Just don't use lots of hair products like gels and hairsprays if you plan on getting a cut that day. The stylist will wet your hair thoroughly before the cut. If you plan to go directly home after the cut you can skip the blow dry and save even more money. Choose your hair salon by the stylist not by the salon's prestige, location or name. Sit outside the saloon and look at the women who leave. If you like their hair give the salon try. You might just get a great cut for a bargain.
