Description of service
This service was to determine the cause of a faulty air conditioner unit in my car. The air conditioner was blowing hot air. The cost included labor and flushing out system.
Review of Service
The overall quality of service was acceptable. The mechanic looked at the car, indicated that it probably just needed a coolant flush and to have the freon replaced. HE hooked the car to a machine that did just taht. The mechanic indicated that this would most likely fix the problem. Well, 2 days later, the a/c was blowing hot air again. I took it back to the mechanic who looked at it for no charge and indicated then that the evaporator coil was shot. To fix it would cost around 900-1000 dollars. Needless to say I went to another mechanic who indicated he would charge around 5-600. I have not yet had it fixed.
Tips
Before you lay out major money for an older car, determine if it is worth it to you. Always seek a second opinion unless you implicitely trust your mechanic. If you cant afford to fix it, determine if you can use the vehicle without the repair. I did for last summer and deeply regretted it!!!
