Description of service
We needed a new timing belt on our 1995 dodge intrepid. The car had broke down along the highway so we needed a tow.the total cost was $250.This was just for the labor and a 5 mile tow.The part was an additional 150 dollars and this included the timing belt and water pump.
we were told if you changed the timing belt you would also have to change the water pump as well. There was a total of 3 1/2 hours of labor.
Review of Service
We orginally had it at a shop accross town,it sat there for 2 weeks before they told us they could not fix the timing belt.We then had to get ahold of the correct shop and that is were the tow bill came in to play.Once it got to the final shop we had to wait an additional 3 days before they even began working on our vehicle. They were very sloppy with the inside of the car.I feel when a mechanic is getting in and out of your car they should put some kind of plastic down to prevent getting grease all over your seats.
Tips
If at all possible get your parts yourself. Most mechanics get the most expensive parts and mark up the price..Also make sure they are capable of actually doing the work themselves.
Check around for the reputation of the shop.Ask friends and family who they usually see.
also call around town if you need a tow, find the cheapest possible and again dont use the shops tow service.
