I was experiencing extreme difficulty with making left turns in my car. The wheel acted as though it was very tight and did not want to turn. I took the car to my regular mechanic and told him my problem. He diagnosed it immediately as the rack and pinion and said he could fix it the next day. I left it with him and picked it up the next day.

I had absolutely no major problems with having this fixed. When I received the car, my steering was off a little but not so much that I could not live with it. I would have had to have a front end alignment to bring the steering wheel back to exact center. Also, this mechanic usually does not accept checks, but since we had been going to him for a while regularly now, he did accept my personal check. This really helped out. The car has worked fine since.

The major tip is to ensure that you have regular manitneance performed on your vehicle. Rack and Pinion steering is not a common problem and not one that one would be on the look out for. However, as youget to knw your car it will provide signals that something is not right. LISTEN TO YOUR CAR!! If something does not sound right it probably is not!
