Description of service
Transmission Replacement due to leaking of fluid and stalling while in gear and driving. The fluid was a slow leak and barely noticeable. The stalling would take place while pressing the gas more. The truck would not go any faster. But it would rev the engine.
Review of Service
Last year we had to replace the transmission in my dodge durango. It had been giving us problems for about 6 months before it finally gave out. My husband had tried many different transmission repairs and tune up kits to try to make the transmission last longer. Sometimes it would go in gear and sometimes it would stall while pressing the gas. One day it stalled and started smoking while my husband was driving it. He continued to drive it home. The next day the truck would nto go into reverse. We contacted an auto shop in reference to fixing the transmission. They gave us a price of $3000 which we thought was reasonable since the truck was paid in full. We had someone tow it to the shop for another $90. It took the auto shop about 1 to 2 weeks to repair. When we got the car back it ran smoothly for about 3 months. We noticed oil leaking from it soon after. We called and asked the mechanic whether he had noticed this while the truck was there. He told us he did but it was not his responsibilty to check that part. We ended up trading the vehichle to avoid any other repairs.
Tips
When you have to take your car to a shop make sure you know exactly what is wrong with it. Knowing this can help you decided whether or not it is actually worth it to make repairs to the car.
