Description of service
Last year I had to have the starter replaced on my 1998 Dodge Neon. The total cost was $275 which included tax. The cost included the towing to the mechanic's garage, the initial inspection and assessment, the cost of the new part and the cost to ship it to the garage and the actual work of replacing the part.
Review of Service
The guys at the garage I went to were amazing. I don't know a lot about cars, so they took a lot of time explaining to me what exactly caused the starter to malfunction and what they needed to do to fix it. It turns out that this is a relatively common problem in cars as old as mine, so they knew exactly what parts to order and were able to do the work very quickly once the part arrived. The garage also called me daily to update me on their progress, and when the car was not done by the time they promised, they even gave me a $20 discount. They came to pick me up from my house once the car was done, and they even washed the car for me! The car runs better than it did when it was new!
Tips
It is easy to get ripped off in car repair, so get recommendations for garages from friends, family or AAA. Ask questions and make sure you know what is going on with your car every step of the way during the repair process!
