Description of service
The service was an overall tune-up. I took my bike into my local bike shop because I was having trouble with my rear gears, brakes, wheels, and headset. Every time I would try to switch from my high to low gears the chain would skip and slip. I also had a braking problem where it would take me way too long to stop. I think part of the problem was that my wheels were out of alignment. My other problem was that my headset was so loose that my front fork would wobble when going over fairly mild off road terrain.
Review of Service
The mechanic at the shop informed me that most of my problems could be fixed with their overall tune-up. The list of services that the tune-up covered seemed fairly extensive. I was more than satisfied when I got my bike back a few days later. The adjustments have held up for several miles now and my bike is riding, braking and shifting much smoother.
Tips
If you ride your bike more than a few times a month I would highly recommend taking it in for a tune-up every season. The price that you pay for this service will most likely save you from having to spend more money later in the season. Another thing to keep in mind is that most bike shops will offer at least a few tune-ups for free if you buy the bike from them. Definitely go to the smaller bike shops first because they tend to pay more attention to you as a customer and typically have a shorter turn around time.
