Description of service

I had a furnace and air conditioner system installed in a home I purchased recently. It was important for me to get a system that met the current energy efficiency guidelines so that I would qualify for the government rebate. I made sure that each contractor understood what my ultimate goal was: to get the most efficient system that qualifed for the rebate, at a competitive price.

Review of Service

I got three quotes before choosing my contractor. I went with the middle of the road price because the salesperson was also the owner and he was very knowledgeable. He answered all my questions, and I had a lot, and he offered suggestions and alternates. He was more about service and reliability than price. His crew was very professional and they left the area cleaner than when they arrived!

Tips

Investigate what you want before you contact companies in your area. Plan to spend at least 1.5 hours with each of them. Make a list of your concerns, including energy efficiency, warranty, contractors service terms and finally total cost. Don't sign a contract until after you have met with them all and had a chance to review what they have to offer. Any "special" they have the day they visit will still be there when you decide since companies are looking for business right now. Make a spreadsheet of the systems you like as well as a page for the contractors. List pros and cons, then make a decision.
