Description of service
This was the cost of an oil to gas conversion. The price included removal of the old oil burner, disconnect and fill of the oil tank, removal of the oil tank feeder pipes, running a new gas line inside of the house to the new gas heating system, installation of the new gas heating unit, a chimney liner, an electric transformer heading towards the thermostat, and a programmable thermostat. The existing hot water heater was relatively new (two years) so it was re-used.
Review of Service
The service was just ok. I priced out several companies, and I went with the cheapest and in some ways it showed. I had difficulty getting them to comply with local laws and permits like they were supposed to. Although the quality of the work that they did was good, and I have had no problems with the unit, when they started disconnecting the oil tank they accidentally put a little bit of cement in my sewer line to try to block that instead of the oil fill. Other than that the work was done in a day.
Tips
Make sure the contractor that you are using is licensed by the town or county, and that they are certified by the gas company. Mine was, and I still had a hard time. Just watch them to make sure they are doing everything that they promised.
