the Cost of Regular Housekeepers

I retain a housekeeper one day a week. I have had this service for a year now. I pay $50.00 for the day. Duties include general cleaning every week and some things done monthly. General cleaning is sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and polishing and bathroom cleaning (tub and toilet). At least once a month, baseboards and overhead fans are cleaned. Windows are done when necessary. The stove is cleaned probably every other month along with the refrigerator.

Thus far my service has been fine. It is not above my expectations but quite adequate. I very seldom get the same cleaner as it is thru a service so each is different. But by having the service, the cleaners are bonded and I feel safer with that. As for the cost, it may be a bit high but that is the trade off for a service versus a self employed housekeeper. Safety is a big issue for me. I am not able to do heavy cleaning so having someone else is great. If I am not happy with the job done that week I can leave a note for the next week to have the problem fixed.

Always check the service out with the local better business bureau. If you hire a friend, relative or self employed person, make sure you understand all the liabilities involved if they are hurt on the job. Have good insurance.
