the Cost of Regular Housekeepers

$500 is actually what I pay per month. I have a set cleaning lady who comes to my house once a week and occasionally when I ask if I have a special need for her. Of course if she comes over for a special reason I will tip her very well which she likes because the tip isn't taxed like the $500 per month is. She typically knows what needs to be done, but I will occasionally leave her a list so she will know what some of my cleaning priorities are. A typical day of cleaning consists of dusting, sweeping, vacuming, tidying up various things that are out of place and a variety of other special tasks I may assign. My house is approximately 3000 square feet so it can be a big job at times, but she usually only cleans the main rooms weekly. The rest are done when they need it.

The housekeeper comes once per week and usually shows up around 10am while I'm at work. This way no one is inconvenienced by the other person being in the way. I do still keep track of what is being done to make sure stuff is getting cleaned. She is very friendly and once per month I have her come on the weekend just to kind of see her cleaning ethics. It's kind of like a little test just to make sure she does what she should. She always passes with flying colors.

Watch after the housekeeper because I have heard stories of houses getting slowly robbed by the person you trust to clean. Fortunately I haven't had this trouble.
