Description of service

The cost of the class was $55 for 3 class sessions. Each class was 2 hours long. This class was a basic introductory course. I didn't pay a tip for anything, just the cost of the classes, payable ahead of time. The cost didn't include any supplies, it was for instruction only. However, class supplies were available at a discount if we purchased them from a specific retailer.

Review of Service

During the class, I learned how to cast on, knit, purl and increase/decrease size. I also learned how to read patterns, bind off and knitting to gauge. The instruction received was very good and easy to understand for this beginner. There was individualized attention when it was needed. The instructor was very thorough without going into too much detail. Class size was small, allowing for the above mentioned personal attention. We received handout materials to take home at the end of each class, in addition to a free pattern to make a scarf on our own. During the classes, we just practiced the stitches and read patterns.

Tips

I would recommend going in with a small amount of knowledge of terms. I went in with no knowledge and it was a bit confusing for the first little bit, but I did catch on. Also, make sure that you get beginner knitting needles and a yarn that is easy to work with. If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask it and most importantly, do not expect amazing results your first time out. It helps to view your first few attempts as practice only as they will undoubtedly have mistakes here and there.
