Description of service
It was an advertisement in the newspaper. I had to buy my own needles and yarn, as well as a cable needle, which ended up totally about 15 dollars. While there, I was shown repeatedly the basic stitches, and with a partially finished product, was show a few tricks to cable knitting.
Review of Service
I honestly found the teacher and the lesson itself to be quite sub-par. She treated me as though I was a silly nitwit, and rather than using a large needle and yarn in order to show the shape and personality of the stitches, she sat crumpled up in the corner working with black yarn while she was wearing a black shirt. She also had a cat that chose to throw up upon my shoes. I honestly learned very little and instead resorted to going out and buying a book.
Tips
If you're going to get knitting lessons, first, think about how you learn best. Many sites offer high quality videos online, for either a small price or completely free! As well, most large stores have a crafts section, and in them, there might be a book, if you prefer the written word and illustrations or pictures. If you do end up choosing a real person, ask if they give a complimentary lesson in order to see if their teaching style meshes with your learning style.
