Description of service
For $40 I took a "Healthy Meals on a Budget" cooking class. The class was 3 hours long, with the first hour devoted to a lovely lecture on how to buy healthy foods on a budget that will last. The second two hours were devoted to trying out different recipes made with only organic and healthy food, and learning how to cook them. The price for the class covered everything we used, as well as the instructors time, and a take home booklet on health cooking.
Review of Service
The service was excellent. I was really worried the lecture part would be boring (I'm not big on speeches) but the demonstrator made it very interesting, often more of a conversation than a lecture, with lots of question and answers. The quality of service was utterly astounding for a rather boring subject. The instructor was very knowledgeable on the topic and was able to offer a lot of realistic advice. The only thing I would have changed was probably less people, but I don't learn well in large group situations. The price was excellent for such a long class that used a lot of different materials.
Tips
Find out what there is around. Community education always offers different types of cooking classes (although some are rather pricey) and now a lot of grocery stores also offer them. Ask about class size, as I wish I had known the one I took had so many people.
